After “Dark” and “Biohackers”, “Barbarians” is the next big Netflix production from Germany. In season 1, the series retold the well-known Arminius saga and gave the battle in the Teutoburg Forest a modern twist.
After the first season ended after only six episodes, some fans of the series are already waiting for a possible season 2, which will continue the story of Arri, Thusnelda and Folkwin. We therefore collect all the information about the appearance of a sequel and reveal how the plot could continue in season 2 of “Barbarians”.

In addition, the article may already anticipate the plots of the 2nd season. If you want to watch the series spoiler-free, you should read this article only after the last episode of season 1. Barbarians Season 2 Release Date: When will it be released?
As part of its virtual content road show, Netflix has decided on the further fate of “Barbarians.” Accordingly, there will be a second season of the German series.
Already in advance, the excellent entry result of the series spoke for a continuation. “Barbarians” took the top position in the Netflix series top 10 already a short time after its release. So it seemed to go down well with subscribers. Also, “Barbarians” left the further fate of its main characters open after season 1. Ultimately, we could not determine a clear conclusion to end the series after only one season.
An exact start date for season 2 of “Barbarians” has not yet been set, but Netflix has given an approximate start date: new episodes will continue in the fall of 2022.
Barbarians Season 2: Episodes and run time
‘Barbarians’ season 2 will have six episodes, each 45-minutes long and will be filmed in Krakow, Poland, and its surroundings. Stefan Ruzowitzky is acting and showrunner and will direct episodes 1-3 and 6.
Barbarians Season 2 Plot: What happens next?
So far, there are no official sources on what will happen in the series. Nevertheless, we can already make some initial assumptions about how Netflix might continue “Barbarians.”
On the one hand, there are historical sources that prove the further life of Arminius and Thusnelda after the Varus Battle. For example, Arminius defended Germania against various attempts by the Romans to reconquer it. Thusnelda was handed over by her father Segestes to the Roman commander Germanicus and thus found herself in captivity under the Romans. Thereby she gave birth to her son Thumelicus. Meanwhile, Arminius had to deal with inner-Germanic disputes again and again.
On the other hand, we can start from the series “Barbarians” itself. Here we can firmly expect a conflict between Folkwin and Arminius in a second season. At the end of it, Thusnelda will probably have to decide for one of the two.

Barbarians Season 2 Cast: Who will be in season 2?
For a possible second season, we can probably count on the trio of the first season again, consisting of Thusnelda (Jeanne Goursaud), Folkwin (David Schütter) and Arminus (Laurence Rupp), while the new joiners include Daniel Donskoy, Murathan Muslu, Cynthia Micas, Katharina Heyer, Giovanni Carta and Alessandro Fella. A reappearance of Bernhard Schütz as Segestes is also likely. In addition, there will probably be a new adversary from Rome, such as the general Germanicus.
For season 2, we will probably be able to look forward to some more familiar as well as new faces. At the moment, however, nothing is known about further cast members.
