In the first trailer, you can take a look at what awaits Archie and his friends in the 50s – namely, a lot of strange couple constellations. For example, Archie and Cheryl’s wedding is planned and Betty is dating Kevin.

In the grand finale of season 6, the friends managed to banish Percival to the past and avert the deadly comet that would have meant Riverdale’s destruction. Now, however, the world in the small US town is once again upside down, because the averting of the comet has triggered a time jump.
Archie, Betty and Co. have been transported back to their high school days – but this time to the year 1955. In an interview with the US magazine Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa spoke for the first time about what motivated him to take this step and what now awaits fans after the big jump.
In the interview, Aguirre-Sacasa explains that during the planning for the final season, he and his team members became more and more nostalgic and the desire came from several directions for the characters to be moved back to the high school setting once again. At the same time, however, they wanted to avoid simply repeating themselves in Riverdale season 7.
Therefore, in the time jump, they found a perfect middle ground to send the teens back to high school, but at the same time try something that hasn’t been there before. Of course, the series creators also chose the 1950s for the time jump, because both the viewers and the actors get excited every time the characters can slip into the iconic Archie comic outfits.
Plus, the time jump allows us to see a whole different side of both the teens and their hometown. What was Riverdale like, for example, before the town was rocked by Jason’s death?
And friends also start from scratch, so to speak, and can experience “their first kiss, their first falling in love, and also their first heartbreak” all over again in the 1950s. So will there perhaps also be a revival of Varchie or will Betty and Archie (Barchie) find their way back to each other?

All of the main cast members return for the finale. That means we’ll see K.J. Apa (“I Still Believe”) as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes (“The Perfect Date”) as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse (“Hotel Zack & Cody”) as Jughead Jones and Madelaine Petsch (“Polaroid”) as Cheryl Blossom again.
