With the series “Cobra Kai“, which is based on the cult classic “Karate Kid” from 1984, Netflix has (once again) landed a real hit – the first four seasons have already enjoyed immense popularity. So it’s no wonder that even before the start of Season 4, Netflix gave the green light for Season 5.

The return of most of the cast has also already been confirmed: Thus, Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso and William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence return. At the same time, some other familiar faces from both the previous seasons and the original film are also likely to rejoin. Which actors are involved and when the fifth season of Cobra Kai could start on Netflix, you can find out in the following text.

Spoiler Warning: In the following text, we go into the current events of the series “Cobra Kai”. In addition, the article may already anticipate information about the 5th season. If you want to watch the series spoiler-free, you should only read the article after the last episode of season 4. Instead, we recommend the current Netflix news until then.

Cobra Kai Season 5 Release Date: When will new episodes be released?

Even before the release of the fourth season of Cobra Kai, the series creators Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald confirmed on Twitter the work on the fifth season – and could delight with the news that filming is already completed. Accordingly, nothing stands in the way of an imminent release of the new episodes.

Cobra Kai: What happens in season 4?

As could be expected, the All-Valley Karate Tournament is the climax of the fourth season of Cobra Kai and managed to come up with a surprising outcome: in both the team standings and the women’s discipline, the antagonistic dojo Cobra Kai managed to claim the tournament victory, while in the men’s competition Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz managed to hold his own, winning at least a trophy for the combined forces of Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang Karate Dojo.

In keeping with the agreement from the end of season three, it is at least briefly feared that Johnny and Ralph’s dojos will indeed have to close. At the same time, Terry Silver will open more Cobra Kai dojos throughout the Valley, gaining control of the storyline going forward.

While Daniel doubts the further course of action at the tombstone of Mr. Miyagi, he receives unexpected support from an old rival: Chozen Toguchi, who appeared as the antagonist in “Karate Kid II – Decision in Okinawa” and already made his first appearance in the third season of Cobra Kai, offers Daniel his help in the fight against Cobra Kai.

Accordingly, in Season 5 of Cobra Kai, everything boils down to one question: How can Terry Silver still be stopped? After all, he’s already shown that he’s willing to do anything to get his dojos to the top – including betraying his former partner Kreese, who is now out for revenge, and bribing referees at the All Valley Karate Tournament.

The latter action, however, is also smoldering as a potential flashpoint. After all, Tory discovered the cheating during season four and now has to decide what to do with that information. Showrunner Hayden Schlossberg has already promised one thing via Twitter: Season 5 of Cobra Kai will focus on answering the question of what would have happened if Daniel had lost at the end of the third Karate Kid movie – peppered with the warning “Valley nerds, be afraid”.
